Patrol Leadership
All Boy Scout troops are organized in a similar fashion. The basic element of the Troop is the Patrol. The patrol leadership structure consists of:
- A Senior Patrol Leader is elected by the entire Troop who in turn appoints an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader with the approval of the Scoutmaster.
- Each patrol elects a Patrol Leader who appoints an Assistant Patrol Leader.
- Elections are held twice a year.
- Other Troop officers are Librarian, Historian, Chaplain’s Aid, Bugler, Scribe and Quartermaster.
Patrols
Our patrol names are listed below. The origins and motivations for choosing the name is uncertain as they have been around for quite some time.

Flying Circus
A reference to the hilarious BBC comedy series Monty Python of the 1970s? Yes! (Wink-wink, nudge-nudge, Spam, Spam, Spam, albatross)

Smurfs
A fictional colony of small, blue, humanoid creatures who live in mushroom-shaped houses in the forest? Sure, why not.

Elmo
The furry Muppet character from TV show “Sesame Street”. Sounds better than “Big Bird” patrol for sure.

Old Crows
The parents also have their own self-governed patrol called the “Old Crows”. We enjoy the camaraderie among parents and keep to ourselves on outings, let the boys run the show, and provide counseling when needed. Our cooking is better too.
Meeting Location and Schedules
Patrols have their own meetings on the first Tuesday of each month. The time and location is determined by them. All other Tuesdays, the Troop meets at King of Glory Church (2500 Borchard Road, Newbury Park) at 7:30pm. Leadership meetings occur at 7pm.
